Message from Mr. Meihack, Monday, September 8th...
I hope this letter finds you, your family and loved ones in good health. There has been an old saying out there for decades that “It takes a village to raise a child” and boy does that resonate into the world of remote and online learning. Every day we work through issues and concerns that arise and then only to be put back into place with another scenario that needs attention. With your support, we work out the kinks with diligence, drive and a passion to create the best learning environment for your children, our students. Click to read more...

Message from Mr. Meihack, Thursday, July 30th...

Dear Families and Students,
Welcome to the 2020 – 2021 school year.  We hope this letter finds all of you in good health.  We are excited to start the new 2020 – 2021 school year.  Of course, we were not happy how the 2019 – 2020 school ended, but we are looking forward to a great new year.   Daily changes continue to make the start of the new academic year a challenge.  More changes are sure to come with each passing day.  The information in this letter is the most up to date that we have from Governor Lujan and our local community leaders. It is important to point out that our expectations and delivery of educational services will be significantly different from how we conducted the online learning during the spring/4th quarter.
The need for clear and concise communication will be very important during the “online/ remote learning” period.  Correct and updated telephone numbers and email addresses are crucial.   Please make sure that your voice mailboxes are setup and able to receive messages.  Telephone mailboxes should be checked to ensure that messages could be left on them.   Emergency cards and contact information should be checked and updated if necessary via Skyward Family Access.
Please realize that when we go back to traditional “brick and mortar” school we will follow the bell schedule we had last year with a few minor time changes.
This is the proposed daily schedule for online learning for students.
7:40 AM – 8:40 AM Common Prep for teacher planning and preparation
9:00 AM – 11:55 AM Tutorial/Individual Meetings/Re-teaching/Small Group/Parent meetings
12:00 – 12:30 PM Lunch
12:30 PM – 12:55 PM 1st Period
1:00 PM – 1:25 PM 2nd Period
1:30 PM – 1:55 PM 3rd Period
2:00 PM – 2:25 PM 4th Period
2:30 PM – 2:55 PM 6th Period
3:00 PM – 3:25 PM 7th Period
3:30 PM – 3:50 PM 8th Period
Notice there is no 5th Period as 5th period is Advisory.
The following morning schedule is for teachers, students and parents to get together to work on tutorials, supplemental instruction, small group instruction and parent meetings that time. -  For example, ninth grade students would work with Mr. Richins from 9:00 – 9:25
Time Mr. Richins Mrs. Dmax Mr. Hartwick Mrs. Smith Ms. Tran Ms. Yson
9:00 – 9:25 9th Grade 10th Grade 11th Grade 7th Grade 12th Grade 8th Grade

Expectations for academic work from the students:
  • There will be two (2) pieces of graded assignments entered into Skyward weekly for each subject.
  • The same grading scale will give grades as in previous years 90%+ A, 80%+B, 70%+C, 60%+D, 59% and below F.
  • The rigor of work will increase.
  • Teachers, secretary, and or principal will contact parents and students when student work is not turned in a timely manner or when the work demonstrates significant LACK of mastery of the material.
  • Student procrastinating of doing work will be dealt with quickly.  With “online learning” students cannot wait to the last minute and get things done.
Expectations for attendance:
  • Attendance will be taken every day every period.
  • Students are expected to be in attendance on the “remote learning” setting as if they were in traditional brick and mortar.
  • Student attendance daily in the instructional block of time is even more critical than the traditional brick and mortar setting.
Please instruct your student to log in to Skyward to view their 2020-2021 class schedule. If students have questions regarding their schedule, please encourage them to email Mrs. Hartwick at
Athletics and other extracurricular actives will be a discussion item on the August 18th school board meeting agenda.  Governor Lujan and PED says that as long as the state is in remote/ online mode for instruction there are no athletics. If our school district continues to be online, but the state of New Mexico is in “hybrid mode,” the decision to have athletics is a local/school district decision.
We are all looking forward to a great school year and we cannot wait to actually see all of you face to face in the future! Stay safe and healthy!
